( Fig. 25–27 View FIGURE 25 View FIGURES 26 – 27 , 44 View FIGURES 44 – 45 , 47–48 View FIGURES 46 – 49 )
Diagnosis. Male. Clypeal carina well developed inverted Y-shaped carina with branches reaching apical margin; clypeus depressed from carina branch to apex, apical margin broadly emarginate.
Description. Male. Head. Rounded, weakly emarginate posteriorly, broadly rounded behind eyes; clypeus convex and closely punctate with strongly developed inverted Y-shaped carina with branches reaching apical margin, clypeus strongly depressed from carina branch to apex; antennal prominence with strongly developed Vshaped carina, produced below carina to antennal insertions; frons weakly transversely carinate, weakly sagittally and weakly depressed below transverse carina; vertex closely punctate, impunctate posterolaterad to hind ocelli; gena very rugosely punctate.
Mesosoma . Pronotum as wide as head, rugosely punctate, anterior margin straight, raised, carinate, strongly projecting laterally; mesoscutum rugosely punctate; tegulae punctate basally; mesoscutellum closely punctate, flat, subtriangular, narrowly rounded posteriorly; metanotum closely punctate, below level of mesoscutellum; propodeum rounded, not transversely carinate, closely punctate anteriorly with small medial impunctate area, transversely rugosely punctate posteriorly; fore coxae punctate; mesopleura rugosely punctate becoming rugose dorsally.
Metasoma. T1–6 closely punctate anteriorly, sparsely punctate posteriorly; S1–7 closely punctate; gradulus curved and impunctate on T2, straight and impunctate on T3–6, straight and scrobiculate on S3–6, absent on S7; T1 obliquely truncate, weakly subtuberculate above truncation; S1 medially raised and carinate; S2 anteromedially subtuberculate; hypopygium with angulate with weakly developed basal angles; cuspis strongly hooked; paracuspis of medium length.
Colour. Black; ocellar macula orange; wings hyaline.
Length. Body 16–23 mm; fore wing 11–15 mm; hind wing 9–11 mm.
Female. Unknown.
Distribution. Coastal and inland south-western Western Australia from near Geraldton to Lake Grace.
Etymology. The specific name is derived from Latin and refers to the male clypeus which is strongly depressed apically.
Remarks. Males resemble R. houstoni sp. nov., R. fulvescens sp. nov., R. brunneus sp. nov. and R. confusus sp. nov. which do not have the apical margin of the clypeus deeply and broadly emarginate.
This species differs from R. corrugatus by: punctation closer and deeper, rugose-punctate on head (except vertex), mesosoma and S1; clypeus deeply and broadly emarginate with an inverted Y-shaped carina, strongly depressed; antennal prominence with strongly developed V-shaped carina, produced below carina to antennal insertions; pronotum with anterior margin acutely produced laterally; mesoscutellum flat; T1 obliquely truncate; S1 strongly medially raised and carinate; S2 anteromedially subtuberculate; S8 with weakly angulate basal angles; cuspis strongly hooked; paracuspis of medium length. The holotype is mounted with a paratype female of R. fulvescens sp. nov.
