V.2008, J. Turna collected ( NMW) .

Description. Body length: 18.0– 19.7 mm.

Female measurements (mean, n = 7): HL: 3.95; HW: 4.10; CL: 1.02; PO: 2.19; PL: 3.90; PW: 3.64; EL: 3.57; EW: 4.12; ELS: 1.87.

Male measurements (mean, n = 2); HL: 3.66; HW: 3.62; CL: 1.03; PO: 2.01; PL: 3.78; PW: 3.28; EL: 3.33; EW: 3.58; ELS: 1.86.

Male. Body elongate, black, dull, elytra dark violet, with scarce orange pubescence, sides of 3–5 th abdominal tergites and basal half of 7 th abdominal tergite with silver-yellow pubescence, pubescence of 6 th, 8– 9 th and remaining part of 7 th tergite black. Mouthparts and tarsi brown, tibiae yellow.

Head ( Fig. 2A View FIGURES 2 ) large, subquadrate, a little longer than wide and slightly widened backward, sides almost straight; eyes small, oval, distinctly protruding, but not from lateral outline of head, longitudinal diameter almost half as long as postocular area; base broadly and deeply emarginate, posterior angles obviously protruding backward with apices rounded; surface covered with coarse punctures, with short yellow pubescence. Antennae ( Fig. 2G View FIGURES 2 ) short and stout, hardly reaching midlength of pronotum, moderately thickened and more opaque apicad, last segment distinctly longer than wide, almost oval-shaped, ratios of antennomere length (1 to 11) as follows: 24:17:17:16:14:16:13:12:17:20:31.

Pronotum nearly horseshoe-shaped and convex, slightly longer than wide, and narrower than head, widest at anterior margin, anterior margin raised medially, lateral sides subparallel, gradually narrowed posteriorly; anterior angles pointed, posterior angles widely rounded; surface densely and uniformly covered with coarse punctures similar to those on the head, forming irregular rugae anteriorly, with shiny impunctate midline, becoming indistinct and almost obsolete at about midlength. Scutellum triangular, densely covered with black velvety pubescence.

Elytra small, nearly quadrate, slightly dilated posteriad, wider than long, shorter and broader than pronotum; sides straight, posterior margin slightly emarginate medially; surface finely and coarsely punctured, covered with dense black and sparse orange pubescence.

Abdomen elongate, gradually widened posteriad; surface finely and densely punctate, pubescence similar to that of N. nanlingensis ; 8 th sternite ( Fig. 2B View FIGURES 2 ) broadly emarginate at middle of posterior margin, each side with one long black erect seta, 10 th tergite ( Fig. 2D View FIGURES 2 ) triangular, with moderately long setae at margin, 9 th sternite ( Fig. 2E View FIGURES 2 ) with posterior margin truncate, covered with dense long golden hairs.

Legs somewhat stout, first four protarsal segments markedly dilated, sub-bilobed, each covered with golden setae.

Aedeagus ( Figs. 2H–K View FIGURES 2 ) symmetrical; median lobe elongate, with weakly sclerotized middle part and globular basal part, in ventral view median lobe slightly narrowed towards apex and weakly widened before rounded apex; paramere ( Fig. 2H View FIGURES 2 ) degenerate, very fine and slender, with two pairs of short setae medioapically.

Female. First four protarsal segments similar to those of male. Second gonocoxite ( Fig. 2C View FIGURES 2 ) with minute stylus bearing several long apical setae, basal half of second gonocoxite with long dark setae. 10 th tergite ( Fig. 2F View FIGURES 2 ) triangular, apex narrowly triangular, with numerous unequally long setae in apical half and along apical margin.

Distribution. China (Hunan, Guangdong, Fujian).

Notes. In general appearance, the present new species is similar to N. nanlingensis , but in the latter the posterior portions of the head are not widened, elytra are black and the shape of the aedeagus is different.

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality, Mangshan National Nature Reserve in Hunan Province, China.
