SYNTYPE (J): ‘ Somalia / OBBIA / 1924 [hw] // Stefanini / e / Puccioni [hw] // TYPUS [p, red label] // Onthophagus / gravearmatus / m. typ [hw] / Dr. V. Balthasar det. [p]’.

Current status. Valid species; not assigned to any subgenus.

Remark. TAGLIAFERRI et al. (2012) indicated its possible placement in the subgenus Bicornonthophagus Tagliaferri & Moretto, 2012 .
