Potamogeton filiformis Persoon (1805: 152)

Perennial, rhizome filiform, stem slender to filiform, terete. Leaves submersed, filiform, 40–60 mm long, 0.3–0.4 mm wide, 3-veined, obtuse at apex, rarely bifurcate, straight at base, stipules fused, 8–10 mm long, brownish. Spike 1–3 mm long, peduncle often> 100 mm long, as thick as the stem. Tepals 1 mm, anthers 1 mm long. Carpels 4, fruits 1.9–3 mm long. Stele of four bundles type, endodermis of U-type, interlacunar bundles present, subepidermal bundles absent.

Worldwide distribution: —N and E Europe, W Asia ( Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Palestine), C, N and E Asia. North and South America.

Distribution in Iran: —South and Southeast.

Flowering time: —From spring to autumn.
