Potamogeton lucens Linnaeus (1753:126) , Fig. 6

Perennial, rhizome robust, stem terete, sparingly to richly branched, slender to robust. Leaves monomorphic; submersed shortly petiolate, 50–180 mm long, 20–45 mm wide, 9–11-veined, apex acute, often with elongated tip, margins dentate, petiole 3–10 mm long; floating leaves absent; stipules not fused, 35–80 mm long, membranaceous, convolute, ribes on stipules are broadly winged, persistent. Spike 20–70 mm long, peduncle 60–140 mm long, considerably thickened at the top. Tepals 1–2 mm, anthers 1 mm long. Carpels 4, fruits 2.5–3 mm long. Stele of proto type, endodermis of Utype, strong interlacunar bundles present, subepidermal bundles present.

Worldwide distribution:—Europe, N Africa, W Asia ( Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Palestine), N and E Asia, Pacific Islands.

Distribution in Iran:—North, West, Central, South, Southeast.

Flowering time: —From spring and summer.
