Distribution. Palearctic, adventive in North America. Canada: AB, BC, NB, NF, NS, ON, QC, SK. USA: NH (NSR), WA.
Collection and Habitat data. In NH captured from Picea rubens [in rearing chambers for bark beetles]; adults present in August and October. In Canada recorded from Abies balsamea , Acer saccharum , yellow birch, mature red spruce, red maple, and old-growth white spruce and balsam fir forests. In BC present in coastal montane forests of central Vancouver Island with mature Douglas fir ( Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) and western hemlock ( Tsuga heterophylla (Raf.) Sarg. ) ( Klimaszewski et al. 2001, Klimaszewski and Winchester 2002a, Webster et al. 2009, Brunke et al. 2012). In Europe taken in Betula , Populus , Quercus , and conifer forests. Adults from under bark of tamarack infested by eastern bark beetle, under bark of red spruce infested with Dendroctonus rufipennis (Kirby) and Polygraphus rufipennis (Kirby) ( Klimaszewski et al. 2018) .
