Distribution. Palearctic, adventive in North America. Canada: AB, BC, NB, NF, NS, ON, QC, SK. USA: CA, CT, NH (NSR), NV.

Collection and Habitat data. Specimens in NH were captured from May to September, and were taken in leaf litter on a spring edge, maple litter along a stream in a forest, old river drift, and pig dung in a pasture and a bog. Elsewhere recorded from open habitats and various forest types; in decaying organic matter, fungi, animal droppings, human feces, and carrion ( Klimaszewski et al. 2018).

Comments. This species arrived in North America a considerable time ago judging from its widespread distribution in Canada and the USA (Klimaszewski et al. 2002). It was first captured and reported in Canada (Knowlton, Quebec) in 1929 (Klimaszewski et al. 2002), and in the USA in Nevada before 1889 ( Fauvel 1889, Klimaszewski et al. 2013 a, 2018).
