Type Locality: "neighbourhood of Yarkand" [15 mi (24 km) E, Xinjiang, China].

Vernacular Names: Yarkand Hare.

Distribution: Steppes of Tarim Basin, S Xinjiang ( China), around edge of Takla Makan desert.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Placed in subgenus Tarimolagus by Gureev (1964); and also by Averianov (1998), but see Xu (1986). Reviewed by Angermann (1967) and Gao (1983).
