Description of Brevibacillus halotolerans LPB 0284

Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated, rod-shaped bacterium (0.7-0.9 μm wide, 2.6-2.9 μm long). Colonies grown on R2 A are white, irregular, rhizoid, and flat. Oxidase   GoogleMaps activity is positive. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for hydrolysis of aesculin and gelatin, but negative for nitrate reduction; indole production; glucose fermentation; activity of arginine dihydrolase, urease, and β -galactosidase; and assimilation of D- glucose, L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain LPB0284 About LPB (= NIBRBAC000503340) was isolated from a soil sample collected from Seoul, Republic of Korea (37°35 ʹ 06.1 ʺ N, 127°01 ʹ 35.5 ʺ E).
