Hedysarum vaginale Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 2: 746. 1753.

"Habitat in India." RCN: 5503.

Lectotype (Verdcourt in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 473. 1997): Herb. Hermann 1: 27, No. 287, upper specimen (BM-000621319) .

Current name: Alysicarpus vaginalis (L.) View in CoL DC. ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Cufodontis (in Bull. Jard. Bot. État Bruxelles 25: 303. 1955) indicated an unspecified and unlocalised Burman element as type, but Verdcourt (in Milne-Redhead & Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Leguminosae 3: 493. 1971) erroneously indicated material in Herb. Hermann 1: 27 and 1: 59 (BM) as syntypes, and was followed in this by many other authors. He formally designated a lectotype in 1997.
