( Plate 4C, Figs. 218–225)
Length. Male 7.60 mm; female unknown.
External morphology. Medium size, robust species. General color black and yellow, forewings with yellow veins medially, cells translucent except distal ½ and apex of clavus; mesonotum mostly yellow with black triangulate marking on each side of middle below anterior margin, round black spot medially; pronotum with yellow broken band on anterior margin, yellow irregular shaped markings beneath anterior margin; crown yellow with broad, longitudinal stripes on each side of middle; eyes black; face yellow, clypeus with long broad reddish brown stripes laterally; clypellus reddish brown, bordered by black in distal half, long black irregular shaped stripe below eyes ( Plate 4C). Head narrower than prontum, anterior margin broadly rounded; crown broad, slightly narrower at base than width of eyes, produced distally about ¼ entire length, lateral margins convergent basally, disk elevated, slightly carinate, depressed on each side of middle; pronotum about as long as median length of crown, surface bullated; mesonotum large, about ½ times as long as pronotum; forewings typical; clypeus long, narrow, lateral margins broadly convex; clypellus narrow, base inflated, lateral margins constricted medially.
Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view broad with small lobe on caudodorsal margin ( Fig. 218); right subgenital plate long, narrow, glabrous ( Fig. 219); style robust, shorter than aedeagus, large lateral subapical lobe in lateral view, apex slightly bifurcate ( Figs. 220, 221); aedeagus long, narrow, tubular except apically, lateral subapical lobe on lateral margin with numerous setae in dorsal view, gonopore medial ( Figs. 222, 223); connective broadly Yshaped, membranous on each side of middle, stem very short ( Fig. 224); dorsal connective long, narrow, gradually tapered distally ( Fig. 225).
Material examined. Holotype male. COLOMBIA: Caqueta, PNN Chiribiquete, Rio Cuñare 0º32’N.– 72º37’ W., 300 m., Malaise, 11/15/00–11/19/00, E. Gonzalez & M. Ospina, Leg. ( IAHC). GoogleMaps
Etymology. The species name is descriptive for the subapical group of spines on the aedeagus.
Remarks. This species has a unique aedeagal, subapical lateral lobe adorned with setae which will separate it from all other known species.
