Redescription:

Head: Dark red-brown to black, silver pruinose, extensively white setose. Antenna: Red-brown. Segmental ratios: 1:1.2: 2.2:3.2 (scape, pedicel, postpedicel, style). Scape and pedicel of similar development, white setose except for few black macrosetae. Postpedicel circular in cross-section, tapering distally. Style of similar diameter to distal end of postpedicel, equipped with long black setae projecting from all surfaces. Face, frons and vertex silver pruinose, mystax white, ocellar macrosetae black. Occiput may be entirely silver pruinose (♂) or with minute, poorly defined, circular apruinose spots midway between dorsal eye margin and cervical region (♀) ( Fig. 2B), white setose. Face to head width ratio in anterior view 1:3.3 (face narrower than one eye). Proboscis red-brown, straight, white setose. Palpi minute, 2-segmented.

Thorax: Dark red-brown to black, extensively silver pruinose, pale yellow and white setose. Mesonotum: Extensively silver pruinose except for small, circular apruinose spots laterally both anterior and posterior to transverse suture. 2 pale yellow npl, 1 pale yellow spal (other macrosetae weakly developed), general setae white. Scutellum dark red-brown, entirely silver pruinose, fine white setose, 2 long thin white apical macrosetae). Pleura uniformly silver pruinose. Katatergal setae white. Legs: Coxae dark red-brown, silver pruinose, white setose. Trochanters orange, white setose. Femora orange, yellow-white setose except for 2 black macrosetae dorsodistally. Tibiae and tarsi orange, macrosetae black, other setae pale yellow-white. Wings: 4.4 × 1.6 mm (holotype). Membrane transparent, unstained, entirely lacking microtrichia.

Abdomen: Terga dark red-brown, extensively silver pruinose except for T8 and narrow posterior margins of T1–7, all setae white. Sterna dark red-brown, entirely silver pruinose, white setose. Terminalia orange (♂), dark red-brown (♀).

Distribution ( Table 1), phenology ( Table 2) and biology: Found in Namibia and Zimbabwe. The species has been collected in November and December. Specimens have been collected in Miombo and Mopane woodland .
