Type material examined. Holotype. CHINA: ♂, Zhejiang, Deqing, Moganshan , 1991.v.12, Yonghua Wang leg. ( CAU) . Paratypes. CHINA: 1♀, same locality as for holotype, 1991.iv.24, Haoxin Lou leg. ( CAU) . 1♀, same locality and collector as for preceding, 1991.iv.30 ( CAU) . 1♂ 6♀♀, Zhejiang, Lin’an, Xitianmushan , 1980.v.4–5, Chikun Yang leg. ( CAU) .
Diagnosis. Generally shining blackish brown; face, parafacial and gena yellow; antennal arista bicolorous, with yellow basal half and dark brown apical half; postpronotum and propleuron yellow; mesonotum black, with pair of yellow lateral markings on posterior half; wing slightly infumate, with large dark suffusion at apex and vague broad median transverse band interrupted along cell r 1; legs mostly yellow, with mid and hind femora narrowly dark brown subapically, mid and hind tibiae largely dark brown.
Distribution. China (Sichuan, Zhejiang).
Remarks. This species was originally described based on a male holotype and two female paratypes (including one treated as “ allotype ”) from Moganshan, Zhejiang, China, and seven paratypes (one male and six females) from Xitianmushan, Zhejiang, China ( Yang & Wang 1992). The type material of this species was presumed to be lost prior to this study except one paratype could be found ( Evenhuis 2016; Galinskaya & Shatalkin 2016). During the present study, the holotype and all nine paratypes were found in the collection of CAU. Images of the holotype ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–2 ) and the paratype which was originally referred as “ allotype ” ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 ) are provided herein.
Galinskaya & Shatalkin (2018) redescribed this species based on a male specimen from Baoxing, Sichuan, China. An illustration of the male genitalia of this species was provided in its original description and was copied by Yang & Wang (1998), Xi et al. (2016), and Zhou et al. (2022).
