Chorology.

The Holarctic Stenus formicetorum is widely distributed in the temperate and northern Palaearctic as far east as Russian Far East and as far south as Afghanistan and northwestern Iran (Fig. 11 View Figures 7–12 ).

Biogeographical characterization.

The wide distribution in the northern and temperate Palaearctic cannot be attributed to a particular Pleistocene refuge.
