( Fig. 85 View FIGURE 85 )
Typhlodromus capparidis Van der Merwe, 1968: 26 View in CoL .
Material examined. Kenya, 1 female, Mt . Kenya, altitude 2000 m, bush land, July 13, 2004 (El-Banhawy) .
Female: Dorsal shield with lateral striations, 260 long, 130 wide. Measurements of dorsal setae: j1 12, j3 25, j4 16, j5 18, j6 26, J2 30, J5 8, z2 23, z3 25, z4 35, z5 23, Z4 40, Z5 48, s4 28, s6 25, S2 35, S4 30, S5 26, r3, R1 25, JV5 46. Setae Z 4, Z5, serrated, remaining setae smooth. Peritrematal shield fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, reaching level of j1. Genital shield 50 wide. Ventri-anal shield 83 long, 58 wide, with a pair of small elliptical preanal pores close to each other and four pairs of pre-anal setae (JV1, JV2, JV3, ZV2). Two pairs of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites and four pairs of setae surrounding ventri-anal shield. Fixed digit of chelicera with four teeth, movable digit with three teeth. Spermatheca calyx bell-shaped, 16 long, 9 wide, atrium inconspicuous. Macroseta sharp pointed, St IV 50 Chaetotaxy: genu II 2 , 2 / 0, 2/0, 1, genu III 1 , 2 /1, 2/0, 1.
Remarks. The female holotype and male paratype were collected from Nelspruit, South Africa, April 1, 1955, P. A. J. Ryke ( Van der Merwe, 1968). The Kenyan specimens show some variations from the holotype. For example, the pre-anal pores are small, elliptical and closer together, and the macroseta on tarsus IV is twice as long. The sternal shield is not distinct in the Kenyan specimen.
