XANTHOCHLORUS Loew, 1857a: 42 View in CoL . Type species: Medeterus ornatus Haliday View in CoL [Palearctic], designation by Coquillett, 1910c: 620.

NOTES: Xanthochlorus View in CoL is restricted to the Holarctic region, with most species known from the eastern Palearctic. The single Nearctic species has a wide distribution. In western Europe, X. ornatus View in CoL and X. tenellus View in CoL are also widely distributed and occur mainly in dry forests.
