Rhinocheilus antonii Dugès, 1886

This specimen is still at the MADUG, and was fully described and photographed in Smith & Necker (1943). Regarding the type locality, Dugès (1886) originally stated “…vient des environs de Mazatlán, côte du Pacifique.” (…it comes from the surroundings of Mazatlán, Pacific coast.); although Smith & Necker (1943: 210) noted that Dugès in a later description (Dugès 1888 a) mentioned “San-Blas, Mexique ”. We concur with Smith & Necker (1943) that the type locality should be San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico (see Discussion in Smith & Necker 1943: 210). The type (HE 1223, Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8. A B) does not have the original tag mentioned by them; it now bears a field tag from Walter L. Necker 1401. The specimen was completely dry and almost unrecognizable, recently it has been rehydrated.
