Two specimens (HE 1038, 1039, Fig. 11A–B View FIGURE 11. A, B ) in the MADUG are labeled as types. We cannot assign these specimens to the category of types since there is no indication in the original description by Boulenger that he used more than the two specimens sent to the British Museum by Dugès and these are catalogued as BMNH 1947.2.15.54 (formerly 98.2.19.1) and 1947.2.14.55 (formerly 98.4.7.1) (see Frost 2015 for more details). The specimens at the MADUG and those used by Boulenger all are from Atoyac, Vera Cruz (Veracruz). It is possible that Dugès had a large series of specimens of which a subset were sent to the Natural History Museum, London, and after Boulenger’s description Dugès labeled as types the specimens he had retained. Although they may be topotypes they have no status as primary types.
