Remarks: This species, recently described by Holloway & Herrmann (2024), was recorded from Sardinia, Tunisia, and Morocco. Due to the colour variability of the apical spots on the elytra (Holloway & Herrmann have defined them, but wrongly without variability), Anthrenus (A.) valenzuelai can be very difficult to distinguish from Anthrenus (A.) isabellinus Küster, 1848 (= dorsatus Mulsant & Rey, 1868) from some localities (e.g. Morocco: Taroudant). Females are more or less indeterminable, whilts males can be reliably identified by male genitalia and structure of antennal club. Evidently, in some localities in Morocco, both species occurs sympatrically. A new country record for Spain.
