Type Locality: Uganda, Butiaba, east shore of Lake Albert.
Vernacular Names: Naked-tail Shrew.
Synonyms: Crocidura oritis Hollister 1916 .
Distribution: Rain forest of Cameroon, Central African Republic, Dem. Rep. Congo, Uganda and Kenya.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: This species was included in monax , but is a distinct species ( Dieterlen and Heim de Balsac, 1979; Hutterer 1993 a).
