Valves lanceolate-clavate, with apices rounded. Length 23–29 µm, breadth 5–6 µm. Axial area narrow straight, expanded to form an irregularly-shaped, somewhat circular central area bordered by 2–3 shortened striae on either side, more coarsely arranged than other striae. 4 stigmoids present around the central area. Raphe lateral, more or less straight, with external proximal ends rounded. External distal raphe ends extend nearly straight onto the valve mantle. Costate striae strongly radiate, except parallel at the headpole. Striae 14–16/ 10 µm. Apical pore fields indistinct. Septa and pseudosepta evident at the poles.
