Description of adult ( Plate 3). Wingspan 22–23 mm. Head white with blackish spots, labial palpus whitish, dark on joints, segment 3 pointed, about equal in length to segment 2; scape whitish, blackish distally, flagellum faintly annulate, pale grey. Thorax white with 3 black spots, tegula white with one black spot. Forewing rather elongate, white, much suffused black or fuscous, a blackish discal spot, another before it in fold just before halfway, and a further one beyond, much diffused, terminal area mostly white, as also dorsum. Hindwing dark grey.

Male genitalia ( Plate 12 View PLATE 12 ). Uncus slightly concave, socius distinctly shaped, valva with costa concave, base of dorsum swollen and scobinate, saccus long and straight; aedeagus simple, almost straight with a pair of diffuse cornuti. Sternum 7 with a pointed projection anteriorly.

Female genitalia ( Plate 22). Plate bearing lamella postvaginalis with distal bilateral sclerotised extensions, lamella postvaginalis small, convex, antrum long barely distinguishable from ductus, corpus bursae ovate, signum a large stellate patch.

Biology. Not known. Adults recorded in November, December and January. The larva is illustrated on Plate 29 View PLATE 29 .

Diagnosis. Differs from other species in its long forewings with a two tone effect, in the male genitalia the shape of the socius is characteristic, as well as that of the valvae; in the female genitalia the ostial plate has spiny lateral sclerotised projections.

Derivation of name. From the former Cape Province (Now Western Cape and Eastern Cape) where the species occurs.

Distribution. Republic of South Africa, Western Cape.

Type material. Holotype ♂ RSA Republic of South Africa, W. Cape, Vermaaklikheid , Oshoek River Farm , 34°19’50”S 21°01’19”E 4–6.xii.2016 8 m, K. Larsen, L. Aarvik, A.
