12. Stillingia salpingadenia subsp. saxatilis Pax & Hoffmann (1912: 189) View in CoL , non Stillingia saxatilis Müller Argoviensis (1873: 540) . Lectotype (here designated):— PARAGUAY. Cordillera: Bergcampo bei Chololo im Flusstale des Y-aca, December 1900, E. Hassler 6790 (G 00306618!, isolectotypes BM!, G 00306620!). [= Stillingia scutellifera Rogers (1951: 235) ].

Pax & Hoffmann (1912) proposed Stillingia salpingadenia subsp. saxatilis and clearly based their description, among others, on the material (Hassler 6790) mentioned in the flora of Paraguay ( Chodat & Hassler 1905) as S. saxatilis Müller Argoviensis (1873: 540) . The specimen G 00306618 is chosen as the lectotype due to lack of specimens belonging to this collection in B, the home institution of Pax and Hoffmann, and also because it is in accordance with the protologue and well conserved. Rogers (1951) elevated S. salpingadenia subsp. saxatilis to the category of species by proposing a new name ( S. scutellifera ), since Müller Argoviensis (1873) had already chosen the name S. saxatilis for another species.
