Material examined. CHINA, Taiwan ( BMNH): Formosa, Arizan, 7500 ft, 24.VIII.1908, A. E. Wileman, Wileman Coll. B.M. 1929-261, Drepanidae genitalia slide No. 1739, 13 (Holotype).
Diagnosis. O. brunnea is close to O. obtusa on both external and genital characters. The ground colour of the wings is orange to reddish brown, darker than the yellow of O. obtusa . A blackish brown, oblique line from forewing apex to hind margin is present in O. brunnea , accompanied by a broad brown band anteriorly, which is pale brown or brown on both wings of O. obtusa . For comparison of the male genitalia, see under O.obtusa and O. speciosa .
