Type species: Dorytomus inexpectatus Korotyaev, 1976

Diagnosis. Body brownish or black covered with sparse hairs. Elytra with adpressed setae or with erect and suberect setae no less than half width of elytral interstriae. Rostrum without distinct sulci and carinae, weakly or distinct longer than pronotum, curved, wider than tibiae. Antennae inserted before middle of rostrum. Scape elongated, not reaching eye. Second antennomere 2.2-3.1 times as long as wide at apex. Humeri weakly convex. Elytral striae distinct. Interstriae wide, flattened. Pygidium covered by elytra. Anterior edge of prosternum without erect setae. Anterior margin of prosternum with median strong subquadrate deep emargination. Sides of emargination with carinae. Precoxal portion subequal to postcoxal portion. First and second ventrites impressed in middle at males, and flattened at females. Fifth ventrite flattener or weakly impressed, with anal setae. Femora thickened, with distinct. Tibiae with uncus. Armament of endophallus consists of two sclerites. Body length without rostrum 2.7- 4.5 mm.

Etymology. From the Latin “ Oriental ” – eastern and the name “ Olamus ”.

Comparison. The new subgenus differs from the nominative subgenus in that the endophallus is armed with two sclerites, the rostrum lacks distinct sulci and carinae, and the body is often covered with erect setae.

Composition. Three species groups form this subgenus.
