Type species: Erirhinus suratus Gyllenhal, 1835

Diagnosis. Body more or less red-brownish, partially dark, covered with mainly pale almost adpressed scale-like setae. Rostrum distinctly longer than head and pronotum combined, distinctly curved or almost straight, thicker than tibiae, with carinae. Antennae inserted in apical third of rostrum. Scape not achieve significantly or barely reaching eye. Second antennomere about 3.0 times as wide at apex. Elytra with greatest width behind middle. Humeri weakly convex. Anterior edge of prosternum with setae directed upward. Mesosternal process convex and produced anteriorly. First and second ventrites impressed in males and flattened in females. Fifth ventrite with anal setae. Femora with distinct teeth. Protibiae with uncus, with mucro or without them. Endophallus with three sclerites. Body length without rostrum: 2.9-4.0 mm.

Etymology. From the Greek “εὖ” – good and the name “ Dorytomus ”.

Comparison. The new subgenus differs from the subgenus Praeolamus Zumpt, 1932 , in that the anterior margin of the prosternum has setae directed upward, the mesosternal process is distinctly convex and anteriorly produced, and the endophallus is armed with three sclerites.

Composition. Dorytomus leucophyllus- group and D. suratus -group belong to this subgenus.
