Notes: Bhat et al. (1983) reported Hirstionyssus musculi from India, based on information from Strandtmann & Wharton (1958). However, Evans & Till (1966) showed that there is considerable confusion about the identification of this species. It is not possible to know which species Bhat et al. (1983) referred to as Hirstionyssus musculi .
