Collection records in India: Zoological Park of Darjeeling Himalayas, West Bengal, in soil ( Ghosh & Mandal, 2017).

Notes: Ghosh & Mandal (2017) referred to a species named Hypoaspis takiensis Bhattacharyya, 1966 . We have been unable to locate the description of any species by that name, described by Bhattacharyya or any other author.

Many species of mites have been described in PhD or Masters theses, which are produced in a very limited number of copies and which are not generally available for distribution. The names of these species are therefore nomina nuda. We refer to one example, by Datta (1991), but there are many others. Datta (1991) described and illustrated five new species of Laelapidae from India, including four species of Hypoaspis and one species of Pseudoparasitus , but these names were not published in a way that makes them available for nomenclatural purposes.
