Material examined

Immature, 4.5 mm, (appendages on one slide), CMNC 2002-0012 , Sta. 2305, Cup# 9, 34°53.98∞N, 123°11.10∞W, 3450 m, 12 January 1995 .

Remarks

The sex of this specimen could not be determined. The entity most closely resembles H. laticarpa Birstein and Vinogradov, 1955 but differs in the less acutely produced, posteroventral lobe of the peraeopod 7 basis, slightly more elongated article 5 of peraeopods 3 and 4 and in the apically, four-dentate telson. Though this specimen exhibits some minor differences, we do not feel comfortable erecting a new species based on a single, immature specimen.

Distribution North-east Pacific, off Point Conception, California in 3450 m depth.
