Type Locality: USA, "Estes Park [Larimer Co.], Colorado ".
Vernacular Names: Dwarf Shrew.
Distribution: Rocky Mountains from Montana to New Mexico; South Dakota; Arizona ( USA).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Otisorex . Very similar to, and perhaps conspecific with tenellus , see review by Hoffmann and Owen (1980, Mammalian Species No. 131); but George (1988) retained both as distinct species.
