Type species: Desertoniscus subterraneus Verhoeff, 1930 , by monotypy.

Remarks. The diagnosis of the genus is provided recently by Kashani and Allspach (2012). Desertoniscus seems to be especially similar to Agnara Budde-Lund, 1908 , Protracheoniscus Verhoeff, 1917 , Mongoloniscus Verhoeff, 1930 and Lucasiodes Kwon, 1993 ( Borutzky 1945, 1978; Kwon 1993; Taiti and Ceccucci 2011; Eshaghi et al. 2015; Li 2017), with certain morphological features that do not always allow to clearly distinguish these genera. This situation invites molecular analyses.
