Comments: This genus is principally North American, but is represented by six species in Australia and two in the Mediterranean Basin. Unlike Eclimus spp. , the adults are covered in hair of various colours.

Hosts: There are two records of North American species reared in association with wood-boring beetles ( du Merle 1975).
Distribution: Holarctic and Australia. North Africa: Algeria: 1 species; Thevenetimyia quedenfeldti (Engel) .
