This genus encompasses 86 species in the world, with about half of them endemic to the Australian continent ( Mound & Masumoto 2009). Three species are known from Arabian Peninsula ( A. graminum , A. obscurus and A. sudanensis ) of which two are recorded from Saudi Arabia (zur Strassen 1990; Rasool et al. 2021a).
