This is the only species of Ankothrips View in CoL known from Asia. It was described from Iran based on its unusual character of very short setae on head and pronotum ( Minaei 2012). The female of A. zayandicus View in CoL is known to have the prolongation of antennal segment II with smooth lobe as compared to the male where the lobe is serrated.
