Rhipidothrips unicolor zur Strassen, 1965: 3

This is a Mediterranean species. It wasdescribed from Canary Islands, but is widespread from Mediterranean to Middle east countries (zur Strassen 2003; Bhatti et al. 2009). It is very close to R. elegans Pelikan , however, it can be differentiated by grey to light brown wings, antennal segment III distinctly longer than IV and yellow setae on tergite IX. In contrast R. elegans has transparent fore wing with pale cilia, antennal segment III as long as IV and tergite IX with brown setae (zur Strassen 2003).

Material studied. Riyadh. Rumah, Hafr Al Atk, Rawdat Tinhat (Nature reserve), one female from Stipa sp. , 20. iii.2020, ( BT) .
