Franklinothrips Back View in CoL View at ENA
This pantropical genus comprises 17 species worldwide (ThripsWiki 2023), but has been known in Arabian Peninsula only from Yemen (zur Strassen, 1990). The species are sexually dimorphic, females can be recognized by their large size with abdominal segments I–II constricted as in many hymenopterans; antennal segments III–IV remarkably long and slender with the sensorium twisting along the length of segment; head and prothorax without long setae; head retracted into prothorax; maxillary palp 3-segmented.
