This is most speciose genus in Thysanoptera , comprising 300 species worldwide (ThripsWiki 2023). Hitherto, nine Thrips species have been known from Arabian Peninsula (zur Strassen 1990; zur Strassen & van Harten 2006), with three of these recorded from Saudi Arabia (zur Strassen 1979). Three additional species of Thrips are recorded here from Saudi Arabia. The genus can be characterized by: tergite VIII with ctenidia posteromesad to the spiracles; ocellar setae pair I absent; antennae 7–8 segmented and ocellar setae pair II shorter than III.
