scientific name

Melanopsis sevillensis Grateloup, 1840
status

Melanopsis sevillensis Grateloup, 1840

Original source.

Grateloup 1840: 433, pl. 4, figs 10-11.

Type locality.

“Séville; les bords de la petite rivière de Guadaira, qui se jette dans le Guadalquivir" [Sevilla; the banks of the small river Guadaira, which flows into the Guadalquivir], Spain.

Remarks.

The "var. minor [...] de Grateloup" as discussed by Bourguignat (1884) was never declared as such by Grateloup ("var. b"). Brot (1874 - 1879: 441) considered the taxon as a junior synonym of Melanopsis cariosa (Linnaeus, 1767).
