HOLOTYPE. China. Lichuan , male [ China /Hupeh (Hebei)/Lichuan Dist. Suisapa/ 100 m / 31 August 1948 /Gressitt and Djon] ( CASC) .

Description. Male: length: 3.4 mm (n = 1). width: 1.9 mm (n = 1). Head: derm testaceous; punctures small­sized with small, elongate, golden scales; ventral macula of golden scales; eyes large, subround, finely faceted; frons 0.31 as broad as head across eyes, clothed with narrow, elongate, golden scales. Rostrum: length 2.2 mm (n = 1); derm rubiginous; sub­cylindrical; tricarinate dorsally, clothed with narrow, elongate, golden scales from frons to before antennal insertion; punctures deep, oval between carinae; gradually arced from base to apex; scrobe ventral; scape inserted at midpoint. Antennae: length: scape 0.8 mm, funiculus: segment one 0.2 mm, two 0.18 mm, three 0.1 mm, four 0.08 mm, five 0.1 mm, six 0.08 mm, seven 0.1 mm, club 0.63 mm, funicle 0.84 mm (n = 1); scape 0.95 as long as funicle; clothed with elongate, testaceous scales; club elongate, acuminate, as long as funicular segments 3–7, segments 1–3 almost equal in length, 4 slightly shorter. Thorax: length: 1.1 mm (n = 1). Width: 1.5 mm (n = 1). derm testaceous; disc sub­trapezoidal with small punctures clothed with narrow, elongate, fuscous and a few white scales mixed, median vitta of elongate luteus scales; anterior margin with slight indication of postocular lobe; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent; scutellum medium­sized, longer than broad, clothed with luteus scales; mesepimeron with dorsal and basal fringe of white scales; mesepisternum and metepisternum clothed with fuscous scales. Elytra: length: 2.1 mm (n = 1); striae deep with small deep punctures; humeri rounded; intervals broad, flat, clothed with short, narrow, fuscous scales with confused patches of fewer, longer, white scales; interval 1 with vitta of luteus scales; crosshatched setae short but prominent, luteus; disc flat in lateral view. Legs: length of hind femur 1.3 mm (n = 1), small teeth on all femora; derm luteus; hind femur not reaching apex of abdomen; femora clothed with ochraceous scales; tibiae sub­sinuate, pro­ and mesouncus large longer than tarsal claw, metauncus prominent, but not as long as tarsal claw; clothed with ochraceous scales. Abdomen: sternite 1 longer than 2 behind coxal cavity, with rather deep median declivity; sternite 2 ascending to 3; sternites 3 and 4 equal in length, longer than 5 combined; all sternites clothed with short, narrow, ochraceous scales a few longer white scales laterally. Pygidium : small, clothed with short, ochraceous seta­like scales. Genitalia: not dissected.

Remarks. Appears superficially similar to C. cinnamomeus (Heller) , but smaller in size with shorter rostrum, hind femur not exceeding apex of abdomen, median vitta from head to apex of abdomen and not totally cinnamon in color.

Etymology. The specific epithet ‘‘ luteus ’’ is a Latin noun meaning ‘‘yellow’’ and ‘‘ vittus ’’ from the Latin noun, ‘‘vitta,’’ meaning ‘‘longitudinal stripe.’’
