Hymenophyllum cordobense (Hieron.) C. Larsen & Arana, Phytotaxa View in CoL 303(3): 228(–229), f. 1A–B. 2017.
= Hymenophyllum tunbrigense (L.) Sm. var. cordobense Hieron., Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 22: 361. 1896.
Range:— Bolivia ( CH, CO, LP, SC, TA) to Argentina and Chile ( Larsen et al. 2017).
Ecology: —Moderately common; epiphytic, saxicolous, and terrestrial in semihumid and humid forests; 1500– 3100 m. In Argentina, this species is said to inhabit hyper-humid highland grasslands (“Pastizales de altura”), caves, and rock shelters in Prov. Cordoba ( Larsen et al. 2017). Associated ferns were said by Larsen et al. to be Hymenophyllum crispum and H. capurroi , Elaphoglossum piloselloides (C.Presl) Desv. , and Melpomene peruviana (Desv.) A.R.Sm. & R.C.Moran.
Notes: —This species is closely related to Hymenophyllum tunbrigense , which is often considered subcosmopolitan in distribution. In the New World, that species has been considered to occur in the U.S.A. (South Carolina), Antilles, southern Mexico to Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile. In the Old World, H. tunbrigense has been ascribed a broad range in western Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
