Hymenophyllum undulatum (Sw.) Sw., J. Bot. (Schrader) 1800 View in CoL (2): 101. 1801.
= Hymenophyllum undulatum (Sw.) Sw. View in CoL var. regenerans C.Chr., Ark. Bot. 20 A: 8. 1926.
Range: —Antilles; southern Mexico to Suriname and Bolivia (CO, LP, SC); southeastern Brazil.
Ecology: —Very common; pendent epiphytic or saxicolous species in humid forests, often forming long “curtains” hanging from tree branches in cloud forests; (1400–) 1900–4200 m.
Notes: —Differs from H. axillare by having unwinged petioles, and laxer, narrower, and usually pendent leaves. Typically, a few pinnae are much larger than the others, creating the appearance of a forked rachis. Older pinnae are often dead and blackish or reddish, contrasting with the bright green distal pinnae.
