Smeringopus Simon, 1890 View in CoL View at ENA
With 55 species, Smeringopus is currently the most species-rich Afrotropical pholcid genus. Eighteen species in eight species groups have been described from East Africa ( Huber 2012). Three species groups are endemic to East Africa: rubrotinctus group (5 species), chogoria group (2 species) and S. ngangao . The other five groups (arambourgi group; peregrinus group; roeweri group; S. pallidus (Blackwall, 1858) ; S. lesserti Kraus, 1957 ) are more widely distributed ( Huber 2012) ( Fig. 26 View Figs 24 - 27 ).
