Type Locality: Australia, Western Australia, Swan River.
Vernacular Names: Greater Bilby.
Synonyms: Macrotis cambrica Troughton 1932 ; Macrotis grandis Troughton 1932 ; Macrotis interjecta Troughton 1932 ; Macrotis nigripes (Wood Jones 1923) ; Macrotis sagitta (Thomas 1905) .
Distribution: Formerly in Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, W New South Wales, SW Queensland. Survives only in SW Queensland, Northern Territory / Western Australia border region and Kimberleys.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA – Endangered; IUCN – Vulnerable.
