Type Locality: Venezuela, Bolivar, southern base of Mt. Roraima, 930 m.
Vernacular Names: Weeper Capuchin.
Synonyms: Cebus annellatus Gray 1865 ; Cebus apiculatus Elliot 1907 ; Cebus brunneus J. A. Allen 1914 ; Cebus castaneus I. Geoffroy 1851 ; Cebus leporinus Pusch 1941 ; Cebus nigrivittatus Wagner 1848 ; Cebus pucheranii Dahlbom 1856 .
Distribution: Guyana, French Guiana, Surinam, N Brazil, Venezuela, perhaps N Colombia.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: C. capucinus species group. Replaces nigrivittatus ; see Husson (1978:223). Mittermeier and Coimbra-Filho (1981) queried the distinction of this species from C. capucinus .
