Oragua copiosa View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 D, 5 A–N)

Type-locality. Comunidade Ararão/Ararinha, Rio Padauari, Barcelos, Amazonas State, Brazil.

Length. Males, 7.0–8.0 mm, Females, 6.6–8.5 mm.

External morphology. Head ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A) with median length ranging from 0.3 to 0.6 times interocular width and from 0.2 to 0.4 times transocular width; crown with small punctuations. Ocelli ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A) located on imaginary line between anterior eye angles. Antennal ledges with anterior margins vertical and slightly concave. Frons and upper portion of clypeus weakly flattened medially. Clypeus with lower portion weakly oblique in relation to frons. Epistomal suture complete. Pronotum ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A) with width approximately equal to transocular width; lateral margins slightly convergent anteriorly; surface with small punctuations and weakly rugose transversally on posterior portion. Mesonotum ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A) punctate and not rugose. Forewings ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D) with membrane weakly delimited, including only first apical cell; with five apical cells (R1 present); base of fourth more proximal than base of third; clavus and basal half of corium weakly punctate. Posterior legs with femoral setal formula 2:1:1; first tarsomere with length greater than combined length of two more distal tarsomeres; with two longitudinal regular rows of small setae on plantar surface. Other characters as in generic description.

Coloration. Body ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B) brown dorsally and ventrally. Small pale maculae (yellow and white) all over the head, dorsal surface, and pleurites, which may be more elongate on forewings.

Male genitalia. Pygofer ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 B) without processes; weakly produced; posterior margin slightly acute; macrosetae of different sizes on apical half. Valve subtriangular ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 C). Subgenital plates ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 C) extending posteriorly to apex of pygofer; regular row of macrosetae along their extension and microsetae along lateral external margins. Styles ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D) extending posteriorly beyond apex of connective; preapical lobe inconspicuous; preapical microsetae originating on ventral surface; apex acute and unciform. Connective ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D) Y-shaped. Aedeagus ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 F) with basidorsal apodemes inconspicuous and basiventral apodemes elongate; shaft short and curved antero-dorsally. Membrane between aedeagus and anal tube with short and robust setae. Paraphyses ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 D, 5E) rami separate at base (pair of paraphysis), basal connection of rami membranous; rami about four times longer than connective, with broadened apex.

Female terminalia. Abdominal sternite VII ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 G, 5H) with posterior margin produced, with two lateral concavities and apex acute. Internal abdominal sternite VIII membranous ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 I). Valvifers I, in lateral view, ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 J) higher than long, with anterior margin straight and posterior margin round. Valvulae I, in ventral view, ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 J) with bases with outer margins produced anteriorly ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 K); shaft, in lateral view, with sculpturing strigate dorsally becoming concatenate towards the apex, and imbricate ventrally ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 L). Valvulae II, in lateral view ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 M), moderately broad and gradually tapered, dorsal margin broadly arcuate, with approximately 48 subtriangular teeth with denticles on anterior and posterior margins ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 N); apex with ventral anteapical denticles present ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 N).

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the high abundance of this species in some areas sampled and wide geographical distribution.

Notes. The external color of O. copiosa sp. nov. is similar to Oragua yucarensis , as they share the dark body with small yellow maculae on dorsal surface. However, the new species can be distinguished by the lack of a dark frons, absence of processes on the aedeagus, apex of style unciform, and paraphyses rami with broadened apices.

This new species can be distinguished from all other Oragua by the following combination of characters: (1) body dark with small pale spots all over dorsal surface; (2) shaft of aedeagus short and curved anterodorsally, without apical processes; and (3) paraphyses with basal connection of rami membranous and rami about four times longer than connective, broadened apically.
