Distribution: Global: Western Atlantic Ocean; from southern North Carolina, USA, to southern Brazil; entering estuaries and littoral lagoons and ascending river courses; Costa Rica: Ma (Atlantic), 0– 2 m.a.s.l., Per, Dia.

Occurrence and conservation status: Nat, NT.
