Distribution: Global: Eastern Pacific Ocean; from southern Baja California, Mexico, to northern Peru, including the Cocos, Malpelo and Galapagos Islands; entering estuaries and littoral lagoons and ascending river courses; Costa Rica: Tr (Pacific), 0–145 m.a.s.l., Per, Dia.

Occurrence and conservation status: Nat, LC.
