Remarks. A more widely distributed species in North America was already examined by the first author during the generic revision of Caryocolum (Huemer 1988) , but remained taxonomically untouched at that time due to its lack of relevance. However, DNA barcodes now available suggest with high probability the presence of at least one additional, genetically variable species. A formal description is withheld, though, so as not to preempt competent colleagues. A further possibly undescribed taxon is known from a single barcoded specimen from Pakistan and was already mentioned by Šumpich & Bidzilya (2022), and another one is known from four specimens from East Turkey, differing in morphology.

Extensive generic descriptions were published by Povolný (1967) and Huemer & Karsholt (2010) and are not repeated herein. The systematic arrangement of species is mainly based on superficial morphological resemblance of wing pattern and genitalia structures.
