23. Tropidopola longicornis (Fieber, 1853)
Diagnosis: This species can be identified by its vertex narrow, strongly projecting forward, more narrowed towards the apex (Harz, 1975: Figs. 1484–1488); its greatest width in front of eyes taken between the inner margins of the foveolae, considerably less than its lateral margin, taken from the anterior margin of the eye to the fastigium.
Habitats: It is graminicolous. It penetrates into deserts where thickly vegetated valleys provide suitable, though highly localized habitats.
Material examined: Al Shati region : Qattah, 1 ♀, on dry grass, 5.xii.1994 .
Localities: Cyrenaica: Giarabub; Fezzan: Qattah.
Distribution: Egypt, Libya. Sudan and S.W. Asia. Remarks: This species has been recorded from Cyrenaica by Capra (1929), Salfi (1930) and Dirsh (1965). Uvarov (1926) and Harz (1975) reported T. l. longicornis from Libya. The species is recorded for the first time from Fezzan.
