Distribution: — Mexico (Chis, Ver), Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Lesser Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador.
Representative specimens from Veracruz: —Mecayapan: M. Vázquez T. et al. 4108 (XAL, CIB). Pajapan: M. Nee et al. 24971 (XAL).
Ecology: —Epiphytic; in Los Tuxtlas area in montane rain forest between 950–1200 m.
Conservation status: — Critically Endangered ( CR) B2 ab(ii,iii) in Veracruz. Known from only two specimens (AOO: 1.4 km 2) made 20 and 30 years ago at the upper slopes of San Martín Pajapan volcano, which suffered severe habitat destruction. From 1998, this area forms part of the nuclear zones of the Los Tuxtlas Biosphere Reserve , but the area is still under anthropogenic pressure. Specimens examined: 2; TK collections: 0 .
